Relevancy, Evidence-based, Challenge
Edward H. Farrior, MD, comes from six generations of surgeons; his father, Richard T. Farrior, MD, was one of the organization’s founders as well as its fourth president. Farrior’s advanced knowledge and training is evident through his dual board certification from the ABFRPS and the American Board of Otolaryngology-Head and Neck Surgery. He is renowned for his expertise in facial plastic surgery, with a particular focus on rhinoplasty.
Farrior brings a high level of personal and professional dedication to the presidency of the Academy, working tirelessly to prove our specialty’s relevancy and to navigate the ACGME application withdrawal process. Under his guidance, the Evidence Based Medicine Committee, led by Lisa Ishii, MD, has made strides to integrate evidence-based medicine into the Academy and our approach toward learning. Next steps will include communicating the stringent criteria necessary to be considered evidence based. This year, the public relations and marketing efforts have exceeded expectations. Farrior has had a challenging tenure; however, his positive attitude and devotion have shone through at every turn.
