Dr. Wayne Larrabee: 1995 – 1996

IFFPSS, Web, Strategy

Each of us contributes to the great tradition of facial plastic surgery by adding to the contributions of those who came before and each lays a foundation for those who come after. The two main goals discussed in our first strategic planning meeting during my presidency were to initiate an international federation of facial plastic surgery societies and to launch a high quality AAFPRS Web site.

We succeeded in founding the International Federation of Facial Plastic Surgery Societies (IFFPSS). This Federation was and is based on the great international work of Eugene Tardy, MD; Tony Bull, MD; Claus Walter, MD, and many more. We also launched our first Web site. We invited Terry Davidson to our strategic planning meeting to help organize it and we used funds from the Richard Webster Fund to make it a reality. We also appointed a task force to study the purchase of our own building. This project was realized under the strong leadership of Peter Adamson, MD, during his presidential term. We continued to plan for an AAFPRS journal, but it was 1999 before that dream was realized.
