Duality, Support, Value
The presidential term of Roger L. Crumley, MD, focused on supporting various dualities that existed for the members: cosmetic and reconstructive; private practice surgeons and academic colleagues; surgeons certified by the ABFPRS and non-ABFPRS certification; solo/group practitioners and HMO physicians. He states, “Lastly, it is essential that we remember that our membership consists of otolaryngologists, dermatologists, oculoplastic surgeons, and general plastic surgeons. It is time that we reexamine again how our Academy can best reach out to every one of this wide variety of potential facial plastic and reconstructive surgeons in the United States, embrace his or her practice, and demonstrate over and over again how important the AAFPRS can be to each one of them.”
As an active member, Crumley has participated in numerous committees, e.g., Credential Committee, Public Relations and Advertising Committee, New Technologies Committee, Socioeconomic Committee, Audit Committee, among many more. He was the exhibits chair for the Fourth International Symposium in 1983. Just before taking office, Crumley was program chair for the Sixth International Symposium.
